Q:   What are the minimum server computer requirements for network installations?

A:    Pentium II 350mhz (or equivalent) processor 256 Megabytes of RAM 150 megabytes of free hard drive space Windows 2000 Workstation & Server, XP Pro, Vista or Windows 2003 Servers

Q:   Can I run the network version on a peer to peer network without a stand-alone server?

A:    Yes, but on installations with more than 3 workstations it is recommended that a stand-alone server is implemented.

Q:   Can the server program run as a service on the server computer?

A:    Yes, there is a service program that can be used with the server executable to run the server program as a service. To obtain this program, e-mail us at support@accuevent.com and we will supply the instructions and the program to you.

Q:   How can the speed of the software be increased?

A:    First, make sure that the server computer has at lease 512MB of RAM installed. Then, in the server program, choose ?Config? and ?General? and then where it says ?Maximum RAM (in MB)? make sure that it is set at least to 256. Also, make sure that ?Temporary Storage? is at least 500 for 500 megabytes and make the Server Priority ?Highest?. These changes will make sure that the AccuEvent Server is running at optimal levels.

Q:   How do I backup the AccuEvent data on the Server?

A:    The data files for AccuEvent, by default are kept (on the server) in the C:\AccuEvent\Data folder. If you aren?t sure where the AccuEvent data is located, then you can also go to ?Config? and ?Aliases? and the AccuEvent Alias path is where the data is located. Backing up this folder on a daily or weekly basis to removable media such as: CD, Tape or Zip, all of the data is kept in this folder. NOTE: When users are in the system, data files are in use and most backup methods will fail. You will want to make sure everyone is out of the client software programs before backing up.

Q:   I am getting a ?Cannot connect to network server? error when attempting to run AccuEvent.

A:    This error means that when the client workstation is trying to connect to the AccuEvent network server program, the connection cannot be established. First, be sure that the AccuEvent server program is up and running on the server computer. Next, make sure that there aren?t any firewalls blocking the connections on the workstations. Sometimes firewalls get updated and start blocking the AccuEvent server from receiving connections from the workstations. The AccuEvent server receives and responds to messages from the client workstations based on the AccuEvent comms utility. Make sure that the comms utility settings such as the IP address or server name are correct. If the server doesn?t have a static IP address, then when the computer re-boots the address is changed which can cause the AccuEvent Comms Utility to be incorrect.

"AccuEvent actually makes us money. It saves time in all aspects of our organization, from order taking to delivery and pick-up. The "Alert" screens tell our sales people to increase the dollar amount on each and every sale. If I didn't have AccuEvent, I wouldn't want to be in this business."
